Particular emphasis on literary Modernism and some attention to its underpinnings in intellectual history and postwar cultural shifts. Additional topics may include Imagism, the continuing relevance of Realism, regionalism, the Harlem Renaissance, the little magazine, the Nashville Fugitives, and New Criticism.
