This course introduces students to methods that support the types of critical and theoretical thinking, analysis, and research approaches necessary to guide academic and professional practice in art history and other scholarly disciplines. Students are trained to distinguish and locate relevant types of evidence, to apply varied methodological and theoretical approaches to that evidence, and to construct original and effective scholarly arguments. This course requires a significant amount of reading and writing.
