This service-learning course provides the learner interested in rural healthcare the theoretical foundation and skills to engage in healthcare screening clinics for at-risk populations. The course content emphasizes understanding and appreciation of rural healthcare consumers' culture. Healthcare disparities experienced by rural populations will be addressed. There is a six (6) hour practicum to complete every week in order to apply theoretical concepts directly into practice.
