Denial of Service (DoS) attacks are an important weakness of the current Internet. This course gives students understanding of how attacks occur, and how they can be detected and mitigated. Students learn about Internet traffic time series and how to analyze traffic, and use software defined networking to set up experiments. Network attacks are executed and mitigated. May also be offered as CPSC 8860. Students are expected to have completed coursework comparable to CPSC 3600 or ECE 4380, as well as a security course comparable to CPSC 4200 or ECE 4490, before enrolling in this course.
