The application of advanced mathematical methods to physical problems. Topics may include Lagrange’s method, small oscillation theory including coupled oscillators, generalized rotation, the theory of special relativity, numerical methods and perturbation theory. Normally offered in the fall semester of even numbered years. Prerequisites: PHYS 250, MATH 253, and MATH 234 or 265.
