A study of the basic principles of thermodynamics, kinetic theory and elementary statistical mechanics. Among the topics included are equations of state, laws of thermodynamics, reversibility, entropy, kinetic theory, transport phenomena and statistical description of systems of particles. Normally offered in the spring semester of odd numbered years. Prerequisite: PHYS 243.
