(See paragraph on Placement.) A onesemester course intended primarily for students majoring in the humanities. The relationship between mathematics and modern society is studied. Emphasis is placed on the development of mathematical concepts. May be used to fulfill the Quantitative Analysis component of the General Education Requirements. Prerequisite: MATH 110 or placement higher than MATH 110 on the math placement examination.
