3 credits (3+0) An introduction to the practice of film analysis. Students will examine how the various aspects of film production work together to create meaning in cinema. Introduces students to the history of film as well as to a variety of film genres in narrative, documentary, and experimental cinema. Through a close analysis of several pivotal films, this course ultimately seeks to provoke deeper questions about the role of visual media in our society. Prerequisite: WRTG S111 (C or better) or instructor permission.
