3 credits (3+0) This course explores Alaskan literature: oral and written, traditional and contemporary, Native and non-Native. Course texts will be taken from diverse cultural and geographical areas of Alaska. Special attention will be given to different styles and genres of oral and written literature, as well as different social and cultural values embedded in these texts. Prerequisite: WRTG S211 or WRTG S212 (C 2.00 or better) or instructor permission.
