3 credits (3+0) Provides students with a general theoretical overview of family communication dynamics with application of communication skills aimed at describing, evaluating, and improving family communication. Issues related to family systems and communication include definition of family, impact of social systems on family, systems theory, rules, roles and family topologies, and family culture, ritual and narratives. Prerequisite: A lower division COMM course, and ENGL S311 (may be concurrent), or instructor permission.
