A practical and place-based introduction to the development of maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Covers the basic tools and skills necessary for creating community maps using existing geospatial data as well as data gathered using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Class exercises emphasize map development for applications pertinent to rural Alaska. Prerequisites: TM F140.
