This course is designed to provide midshipmen with a broad overview of the United States Navy, its missions, organization, customs, traditions, and the duties required of today's junior officers. In addition, this course is designed to provide each midshipmen with the basic knowledge needed for their first cruise aboard a navy ship by imparting basic information concerning shipboard procedures, safety, damage control, and shipboard organization. It is not the intent of this course to cover each area in great detail, but rather to stimulate the interest of students for study and investigation in the future.
