Introduction to Canyoneering introduced students to the movement and technical skills required to navigate technical slot canyons. Students will learn to move safely, build anchors, rappel and belay, ascend ropes, and read the weather. We will also discuss canyoneering equipment, ratings, and route planning. More advanced topics, such as self-rescue, advanced equipment, and wet canyoneering, will be introduced. This class will provide a foundation for students to pursue canyoneering with the outdoor recreation program or independently. No prerequisites. Course objectives: .Demonstrate canyoneering technical skills, including multiple types of belays, rappels, and anchors .Analyze terrain and practice canyoneering movement, including stemming and down-climbing .Integrate weather data with live weather analysis .Assess ratings, terrain and route-finding to meet group objective and skill level
