This variable-topic course focuses on the practice of doing anthropology. This course is designed to help students make the transition from term paper research to critical (and largely self-directed) research projects. The topic of the course is variable, with an emphasis on a topic that is important to the community in which the project is conducted. Although the course is also intended to examine in detail a particular topic, the primary objective of the seminar is to introduce students to research methods and practices common in Applied Anthropology, and to help students think about how they might use these in their own future endeavors.
