4825. Patient Advocacy for the Health Professional. This course is designed for the health care professional and focuses on basic concepts of patient advocacy in healthcare facilities. Examines the problems in healthcare quality and how advocacy by professionals can ensure that best practices are adopted. An emphasis on conceptual frameworks, debates, and ethical issues within the field are utilized. Patient centered care, patient safety systems, patient involvement and leadership design, delivery and access will be addressed. Prereq.: Junior Status, AHLT 3708, or consent of the instructor. 3 s.h.
