1-0-1 Offered Fall and Spring Semesters Prerequisites: AHS 102, BIO 112, ENG 165 This course provides an introduction to classification systems, the role of coding in reimbursement, indexing and statistics, and the beginning foundation of the study of disease. This course provides students with an overview of the historical development of medical nomenclature and classification systems, including ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding. This course concentrates on the coding of diseases, procedures, and services rendered in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
