This course provides the financial and economic perspectives necessary for leaders to function effectively in changing business environments. The first part of the course addresses the fundamental concepts and practices necessary for leaders to manage effectively and lead a business or a distinct business area within an existing business. The second part of the course deals with the microeconomic concepts related to the need of management to optimize profits and the utility-maximizing philosophy of clients and customers. The third part of the course provides understanding of the national and global economies, growth, recession and business cycles. Also discussed are the potential impact and implications of changes in one sector of the global economy on other sectors.
