Description:
Principles of phonics and spelling patterns as aids to word identification will be addressed, as well as methods of teaching and assessing phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, spelling and fluency within diverse contexts to diverse learners. This course will also examine current research on different phonics approaches in reading and spelling instruction. Spring semester. Prerequisite: EDU 321.
