The course examines legal base of organized social welfare and social work practice through the study of social legislation, judicial decisions, the legislative process, development of administrative regulation, and court organization. The course presents an overview of legal principles for application to social work practice. Special attention is given to laws pertaining to the family, the field of mental health and child welfare, malpractice, and courtroom testimony.Credit, three hours.
