The purpose of this course is to assist the nursing students devlop comprehensive and focused nursing assessment skills and clinical reasoning and judgment in clinical nursing practice. This course examines the collaborative role of the nurse and the use of critical thinking to assess, analyze, and recognize clients at risk for adverse health outcomes. This course uses the nursing process as a framework to guide assessments, analysis, evidence-based interventions and to maximize safe outcomes for clients. The implementations of evidence-based strategies to promote safety and prevent critical incidents are discussed. The legal and ethical implication of nurses' failure to intervene early with at risk patients is examined. This course is linked to NURS 316 Adult Health Nursing I.
