This course is designed to introduce the student to the core concepts and historical background underlying the emerging discipline of One Health. It will provide a broad overview of the key issues in this field using relevant examples to illustrate the major problems and challenges. In particular, it will explore the inter-disciplinary nature of One Health and the role of the key actors within this framework. The course will contribute to a better understanding of emerging disease dynamics and the role of One Health in addressing emerging disease threats. The list of topics will include a discussion of bidirectional impact of animal health on human health, the impact of earth's changing ecology on health, issues of food and water security and the benefits of comparative medicine. Prerequisite/Restriction: BIOL 1610 CHEM 2310 or CHEM 3700 BIOL 3300 recommended, or instructor permission
