This course looks at stress as a physiological, psychological, and social phenomenon. In addition, it develops a beginning understanding of the mind-body question raised by philosophers and scientisits. It also examines the psychosomatic theory of disease and the mechanism that links stress and illness. The primary focus is on helping the students develop beginning skills in particular techniques and approaches used for the management of stress, such as relaxation, yoga, nutrition, exercise, meditation, and music.
