This course introduces current research and practice in the field of writing pedagogy. The differences between processes, skills, and genre-based approaches to teaching writing are examined. Topics include the following: the purposes of writing to various diverse communities, diverse conventions of writing, social/individual dimensions of writing, reading/writing workshop assessment issues, and rubric development.
