Emphasizes the place of music and the arts in education, the role of government in schools, meeting the challenges of 21st century education. Covers personal, professional, and musical skills necessary for successful music teaching and learning. Requires observation of music classrooms in public and private school settings outside of scheduled class time. Includes micro teaching and a final portfolio and interview which culminates in matriculation to the music education degree.
