This workshop introduces the classroom teacher to many of the special devices and software systems available to assist students with disabilities. Participants will gain hands-on experience with configuring and using systems to support students with vision, motor, and cognitive disabilities, including screen readers, text-to-speech systems, alternative keyboards and pointing devices, voice recognition systems, on-screen keyboards with scanning mode, and augmentative/alternative communication devices. The focus will be on using technology aids to support the learning process for students with disabilities. This class is intended for K-12 teachers who are interested in learning more about the technical needs of students with disabilities.
