Probability and statistics is required by the NCTM standards for all grade levels K-12. In the grades 3-8 the focus of the standards is on data and elementary concepts of probability. Participants will learn activities to use in teaching this material and will learn how to identify types of data, how data is collected, how to construct and interpret appropriate displays of data, how to compute and interpret appropriate numerical summaries of data and concepts of elementary probability. Appropriate activities to teach this material will be demonstrated and studied.
