This workshop uses the modern forensic techniques of cultural studies to excavate underserved voices from history and to create from them plagiarism-proof writing assignments that intrigue both students and teachers. Examining primary sources, workshop participants will learn how to exhume a new view of history from ordinary, quirky, and sometimes even bizarre individuals who have been ignored, forgotten, or left out of the record and to transform them into narrative, research, and analytical writing projects suitable for English and history classes.
