Prerequisites: BIO 185 (grade of C- or higher); CHE 202 Introduction to physical, chemical, geological, and biological oceanography. Lecture and discussion topics include plate tectonics, bathymetry, physical and chemical properties of seawater, currents, waves, tides, open ocean and benthic ecosystems, estuarine, intertidal and coral reef ecology, and marine mammals. The laboratory will focus on biological oceanography and will include two one-day weekend field trips. *Field trips may be required at the student's expense.
