Prerequisite: HIS 102 or HIS 113 recommended Analyzes the Holocaust and other genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries from an historical perspective. Specific topics include anti-Semitism in Europe, Nazism, the Final Solution, Armenian nationalism, the Khmer Rouge, and African genocides. Texts, testimonies, films, and other resources contribute to understanding events and responses. Particular attention is given to universal themes including prejudice, racism, evil, and moral responsibility. 3 lecture hours
