An introduction to the art of sound design for the theater. Students will be trained in various techniques of sound design, including recording, mixing, editing and playback software as well as script analysis and creative listening. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the program. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Define the creative role of a sound designer in the theater. (2) Create a concept and sound design for a chosen play. (3) Perform the actions necessary to operate the more complex sound equipment. (4) Apply sound and system design principles in regards to performance venues.
