An introduction to the various equipment and setups used for sound playback and reinforcement needs of live theatre productions. From this course one will have the knowledge to handle basic sound equipment and setups (drama and musical) and troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite: PROD 229. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Recognize the creative role of a sound designer in the theater. (2) Create a concept for a chosen play. (3) Create a sound design for a chosen play. (4) Recognize and/or work the more complex sound equipment. (5) Construct sound and system design aspects in regards to performance venues.
