An introduction to dramatic text analysis using a variety of techniques. Designed for technical, design and stage management majors. Scripts will be analyzed and related back to the student's specific area of study. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the program. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Discuss different techniques used to investigate the crucial parts of the superstructure of a play. (2) Understand plot, character, theme, exposition, obstacle, dramatic conflict. (3) Be a more viable member of both the artistic and production teams. (4) Discuss in a more informed way history, styles, and significant theatrical works. (5) Appreciate and value more wholly their own input as theatre artisans.
