A continuation of BAL 141 with particular emphasis placed on increasing strength and executing movements on one leg. Prerequisite: BAL 141. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to: (1) Recognize the necessity of maintaining body alignment appropriate to pointe work while performing complex movement sequences. (2) Identify appropriate articulation of the feet, ankles, knees and hips sur la pointe. (3) Demonstrate an ability to perform pointe technique with a sense of dynamics, musicality and artistry. (4) Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the ballet terminology. (5) Identify areas needing change (the application of corrections) through observation and practice. (6) Increase his/her intellectual awareness of the field through assignments.
