Students are introduced to basic counseling, case management, ethical decision-making, and cultural competency skills. Role plays and case study application are used to practice the active listening skills, genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive required for building a therapeutic relationship. Self-reflection on professional practice is used to enhance personal development. Acceptance into the Human Services program is required to take this course. In order to successfully pass this course, student must achieve a grade of "C" or better.
