This course is designed as an intensive study of sight singing for vocal majors and minors. With the sole purpose of developing masterful skills in singing a new piece, students will sight sing diatonic melodies with chromatic alterations, intervals in either direction, major and minor scales, and chordal structures. Modulation and chromatic exercises will be sung using solfeggio and number systems. Students will sing repertoire from the major periods in music history, including tonal and atonal works. Also included in this course will be a review of all key signatures and scales, and the analysis of melodic structures with an emphasis on non-harmonic tones. Prerequisites: Aural Skills I or the consent of the instructor. This course is repeatable for credit
