Analysis of language as spoken and written communication. Rationale for the sensory-motor involvement with emphasis on the sequence of skills to be developed to assist the child's natural growth toward effective spoken and written communication. Oral language, phonetic analysis, initial writing, handwriting skills, early literacy, and beginning grammar skills are taught as a foundation for total reading. Prerequisite: MONT 601.
