PTA 218 - Pathophysiology

The student will be introduced to the medical and surgical conditions most frequently encountered in PT departments. The basic inflammatory and healing processes and the principles of treatment to promote healing are covered. The cause, clinical signs, and symptoms and pathophysiological course and treatment of each condition are covered. Emphasis throughout the course is on the role of the PTA in the treatment of each condition. Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in BIO 103 and 104, PTA 110, 111, 112, 114 and 150. An average of 73% or higher is required to pass this course. Successful completion of this course is necessary to continue in the PTA course sequence.
