The student will learn the basic principles of rehabilitation and be able to begin to apply them to basic patient scenarios across the continuum of care. Included in this course are functional mobility training techniques, balance intervetions, the use basic neurological treatment procedures, introduction to ADL functional assessment and architectural assessment. This course also addresses the exploration of physical therapy practice in a rehab environment and the integration of professional behaviors in both classroom and observation settings. Through classroom, observation and application activities the student will begin to further develop problem solving, critical thinking and professional behaviors within the scope of practice of a PTA. An average of 73% or higher is required to pass this couse. Successful completion of this course is necessary to continue in the PTA course sequence.
