This course enables students to become proficient in all areas of the histology laboratory and meet requirements for employment as an entry-level histotechnician. Students will manage specimen processing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, recognize errors in staining, embedding, fixation, take corrective action against errors and assess patient results as normal or abnormal. Students will receive "hands-on" experience in microtomy decalcification procedures, immunochemistry staining procedures, microtomy and staining of frozen sections, and on-site aspiration.
