This course is designed to introduce the veterinary technician student to the theoretical principles and practical applications of local and systemic anesthesiology. Mechanical configurations of anesthetic devices, their functions, and operational limitations are learned. Care and maintenance of anesthetic medications and equipment are covered. Pre-operative exams, assessments and hematology/biomedical profiles along with the kinetics of the hematopoietic system are discussed. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 203, VETE 204.
