From the infamous "Compromise of 1850" through the notorious "Compromise of 1877," this course will cover the immediate causes of disunion, the military and political battles of the Civil War, and the turbulent, controversial era of Reconstruction. Prerequisite: 6 hours HIST or permission of department head.
