For this course, it is desirable to have had at least a basic course in Political Science and/or Criminal Justice. This course is an in depth survey of the various aspects of the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement enterprise as it exists in America today. The course will include an analysis of the evolution of the modern criminal justice and court institutions in the United States and will make comparison with other modern systems. Consideration will be given to how individuals move through the system with particular attention to the procedural details necessary to administration. The course will also focus on contemporary controversies in crime and justice such race, ethnicity, and national security policies. Pre-Requisite: None
