Everyone is different and everyone is the same on some levels. Students will examine various social constructions of diversity, and learn what drives people toward an "Us" and "Them" approach to the world. The course focuses on dimensions of diversity, as well as the human desire for status and significance, to learn how people can work productively with others, opening themselves to understanding individual, group, and organizational identities and ways of accomplishing goals.
