This course offers a non-technical overview of musical trends and styles since 1900. Topics include impressionism, expressionism, surrealism, neoclassicism, experimentalism, and the advent of electronic media, as well as jazz, musical theater, film music, and twentieth century opera. Lectures are supplemented with recordings, tapes, and live performances. Offered as needed. 3 credits
