Description:
The course introduces students to the use of clay as an artistic medium. Historical and contemporary examples will be presented as a context for learning this craft. Both pottery and sculpture will be presented, with an emphasis on vessels. All aspects of decorating and glazing will be covered as well as the following forming techniques: slab building, coiling, pinching, and free modeling. Fees required for both supplies and use of kiln. 3 credits
