Description:

This course uses the tools of microeconomics to study today's important environmental issues. By placing economic activity within a broader environmental context, focus is placed on the "external" impacts that much of our economic activity has on the planet. During the course students learn specific models used to describe environmental issues, and apply the models to specific issues, including pollution, climate change, fisheries management and energy. Particular attention is paid to modeling and policy issues. Students write a semester-long research paper on a specific topic, and present findings to their classmates.
