This course examines how businesses use technology to create and sustain competitive advantages in their industries. Case studies illustrate the strategic importance of information, showing how information provides advantages in the supply chain, distribution, sales and operations. Focus is placed on how new technologies can help transform industries and create new market opportunities. The role of information standards (such as HTML and XML), and legal and ethical standards are also examined. Prerequisites: BUS 120, MKT 230, and IST 125. Offered fall and spring. 3 credits
