The unique character of American religion will be further examined in this course from historical and contemporary perspective with particular attention to personal, institutional, historical, cultural, social, and ethnographic dimensions. In Spring 2013, American Churches and religious movements in the Delaware Valley will be the focus including the study of American Lutherans, Baptists, Evangelicals, Moravians, Roman Catholics, as well as members of the United Church of Christ, and the Jewish and Vodou communities in Philadelphia.
