This course covers the history of the Second World War, beginning with World War I and the Treaty of Versailles and ending with Japan's surrender in 1945. Students examine the causes of World War II, America's reaction to the outbreak of war in 1939, America's war effort in the European and Pacific theaters, Franklin Roosevelt's wartime diplomacy, and the allies victory over the Axis powers.
