A study of city space with an introduction to the social, political and economic structrual influences of metropolitan areas in the local region, the United States and around the world. Attention will be given to urbanization, suburbanization, culture and lifestyles in the metropolis, local and national politics, world trends and globalization. Throughout the course comparsions will be drawn between the United States and countries abroad. Prerequisite: SOC 215. 3 credits
